Interval training involves alternating your intensity up and down from high to low intensity. This type of training burns a significant amount of calories, according to the Mayo Clinic. To do interval training, pick a type of cardiovascular exercise that you enjoy (e.g. kettlebells :). It can be anything from jumping rope to elliptical training or again kettlebells. After doing a five-minute light warm-up, increase your intensity to 75 to 80 percent of your maximum effort for 30 seconds than reduce your workout intensity to about 50 percent of your max effort for 60 seconds and repeat this pattern for 20 minutes.
